Relatives and friends of the 911 victims are upset over a handbag made in Beijing that shows the events of the World Trade Center attack. The purse depicts a plane striking the WTC with another plane in the background.
The bags are being sold through a a chain of Australian stores and, according to the stores owner, the bags are best sellers and have sold out in Sydney and Melbourne. The owner is quick to defend the beaded bags design, saying that it is an artistic interpretation and can be viewed also as an homage to the victims of 911.
Relatives say the purses are exploiting the tragedy and cashing in on their grief and loss. The handbag has now become a collectors item and sells for about $159.
