Kodak Enters The Handbag Market

Kodak, long associated with cameras, has decided to enter the handbag market and target female consumers. The new line will basically be a specially designed and padded handbag that can be used to carry a camera and make a fashion statement at the same time.

The inner pocket on this new bag accommodates a small digicam and there is also room for keys, a wallet, etc. A line of neck and wrist bands will also be available with prices starting at only $19.99.

Kodak has also partnered with a company called Skinit which makes vinyl "skins" for cameras and other devices that fit right on the camera but can be taken off and changed. Prices for these skins will be about $12.00.

I think this is actually a very logical step for the company. Statistically speaking, women make purchase decisions for approximately 61% of consumer electronics in a family setting and it makes sense to give women more options and choices that will appeal to them.

The new handbags will be available starting in March, 2007.
